Getting value the next time you use a courier service

While we’re pretty bias about how great courier services can be; the old saying goes ‘you get what you pay for.’ Are courier services cheap? While there are certainly exceptions, many are not. However the speed, control and accuracy you get is more often than not – worth it. 

Today though, we’re going to discuss some ways you can more or less maximize your investment and get a little more bang for your buck. Here are a few things you can do to better manage your courier costs without breaking the bank.

Be smart about how you pack

Simply packing something the right way can actually save you a decent hunk of change. Weight and dimensions have a major bearing on the overall cost of your delivery – so figuring out how to keep your package in as efficient a space as possible can help a lot. 

Make sure you’re using the right sized box or package when packing up your merchandise. Try to avoid excessive madding unless it can’t be avoided. If you do have to use packing materials, use lightweight material like bubble wrap and sturdy cardboard. Both are more durable and lighter. 

Time things the right way

Make sure you schedule your deliveries on-time. Rush deliveries can cost an extra fee and the efficiency you’re paying for will still be there – but your merchandise won’t get to where you want it to as quickly as it would have otherwise. Be aware of what cutoff times and schedule your deliveries appropriately. 

Get full coverage

Accidents do happen – even with the most careful of courier services. Many times they’ll cover up to a certain amount of loss or damages, but this will likely be capped at a certain limit. While in a lot of cases insuring your package can be an extra fee – in this case it can be a real value. You’re not using courier services for just any, old delivery – whatever it is that you’re paying a premium for to be delivered is important! It’s worth the extra couple bucks for the extra peace of mind.
