Everyone makes mistakes, but when it comes to getting important things from point A to point B, those mistakes can be really costly. Your customers getting their packages can make or break your business with them – and in some industries, people’s lives can even depend on it.

Using the right kind of packaging matters. Not only does it affect the cost of your shipping, but it can also impact the safety of whatever it is that you’re shipping. If your box is too big, you’ll have to add extra materials, which adds to the cost. Long story, short – you’re paying extra money for empty space when you could have just paid for a smaller box to begin with.
Make sure you plan ahead and if you have questions -ask your local courier service. It sure beats being wasteful and paying for something that does nothing for you!
Poor instructions regarding delivery.
If your shipment needs a particular sense of detail, then be sure to be abundantly clear when placing your order with a courier service. Where do you want the package left? Does a person need to sign it? Are there any discreet or off-the-beaten path entrances we need to know about? Knowing these things in advance isn’t so much about the assurances of the delivery itself, but rather about making sure delivery drivers have as many obstacles out of their way as possible to make sure your delivery is made on time and as intended.
Lack of attention to detail
It doesn’t SEEM like delivery services should require a lot of detail, but they definitely do. Not having the right packaging, instructions, weight estimations, timeframes – can all impact not only the quality of the delivery – but how much you’ll pay to get said goods delivered. Knowing that the receiver’s address is correct, estimating mileage and instructions upon delivery are other important aspects. Don’t waste money because you didn’t have the time to take a minute to double-check things. If you don’t have the time to do it right, you won’t have the time to do it over!

This mistake is pretty understandable – as there’s lots of services out there for folks to consider when it comes to your deliveries. But we definitely think you should pick up the phone and ask what service is best before randomly choosing one. We see people overestimate delivery times (comes out more expensive), overbuy on precise services or sometimes the opposite. They’ll need to have something urgent delivered and they’re choosing standard delivery options. Make sure your do your homework on what service you need and if you’re not sure – pick up the phone and ask!
